On 11 October 2023, the Hanoi Social Insurance ("SI") issued Documentary No. 5386/BHXH-TST ("Documentary 5386") regarding the extension of health insurance ("HI") cards for individuals receiving unemployment insurance ("UI") benefits through the data system instead of traditional paper cards. In addition to this update, Documentary 5386 provides guidelines for the use of electronic HI cards in healthcare services, specifically:
1. Ceasing the issuance of HI paper cards from 15/10/2023: As of this date, the issuance of HI paper cards will be discontinued.
2. Healthcare facilities accept HI cards via the VssID App, VneID Electronic Identification App, and chip-mounted Citizen Identity Cards to provide medical examinations and treatments to citizens and employees, ensuring full benefits as prescribed.
3. In cases where HI participants have not yet installed or successfully activated the VssID or VNeID application at level 2 (integrated with the HI card) on their chip-mounted Citizen Identity Cards, or their Citizen Identity Cards have not been synchronized with the HI data, they can directly contact the Hanoi SI Agency's hotline at 024.37236555 or visit the nearest SI Agency for assistance.
Participants who were issued paper HI cards previously can still use them for medical examinations and treatments covered by the HI.
Documentary 5386 takes effect from the date of issuance./.
